Est é e Lauder China Innovation and Research Center settles in Shanghai

The all-new Est é e Lauder China Innovation and Research Center has settled in Shanghai. Designed by Gensler, the R&D center has five floors and covers an area of 11868 square meters, making it a global cutting-edge technology research center. On March 29th, the group announced its first Innovation Day, unveiling the "Global Frontier Technology Research Center" and "Men's Excellent Skincare Research Center". The two global research centers will focus on the needs of Chinese consumers and look to the global market in order to achieve new heights in the field of innovation.

Est é e Lauder China Innovation R&D Center is the group's first comprehensive R&D center worldwide that integrates research, conceptualization, insights, clinical, sensory, and performance evaluation, formulation, packaging, and engineering. It gathers experienced and diverse local scientists, engineers, and product developers.

LEED and WELL Platinum dual certification

In addition, the R&D center is about to become the first facility of Est é e Lauder Group to obtain both LEED and WELL Platinum certifications, fully demonstrating the group's commitment to sustainable development. In the future, Est é e Lauder Group will focus on innovation in green chemistry, responsible procurement, and sustainable packaging.

The opening of Est é e Lauder China Innovation and Research Center marks another milestone for the Est é e Lauder Group in China, "said Li Xiaomei, CEO of Gensler Greater China." From conceptual design to implementation, the success of the project cannot be achieved without the collaboration of all teams, working together to create a sustainable and high-quality spatial environment

#1. Human centered design philosophy

The new park fully embodies the core design concept of people-oriented, integrating the most advanced laboratory environment with comfortable and pleasant collaborative office space. The new R&D center covers professional laboratories, office spaces, meeting rooms, and employee amenities, including a restaurant, outdoor terrace, courtyard, and health center. There is also a Brand History Experience Center within the park, aimed at deepening visitors' understanding of brand heritage, innovation, and product portfolio through brand display, laboratories, and product testing facilities.

#2. Carefully crafted office space to enhance innovation capability and work efficiency

In the early stages of design, Gensler had a series of discussions with Est é e Lauder Group to collect feedback from end-users on how to enhance creativity and innovation in laboratory office spaces. Design and create collaborative and social spaces with multiple adjustable workstations to enhance communication and collaboration. Laboratories and office spaces are specifically designed for research functions, which helps improve efficiency, enhance collaboration, and foster innovation. Enjoying work and pleasure is an important component of humanized experience. We consider the overall living needs in our design, starting from both work and life aspects, to comprehensively enhance employees' health experience, help them relieve stress, and improve their quality of life. The light, transparency, and lifelike nature create a space for employees to rejuvenate, while the outdoor terrace allows employees to breathe fresh air, emphasizing the building's emphasis on the health and well-being of its users. The office space incorporates comfortable design elements, allowing people to relax and create a sense of tranquility and luxury. The final design integrates the business goals, development strategies, and performance indicators of the enterprise, while also conveying the brand mission and company culture to visitors and employees.

#3. Carefully crafted office space to enhance innovation capability and work efficiency

Throughout the park, art works and design elements inspired by traditional Chinese art and culture can be seen everywhere, including the "beauty of balance and harmony" and "five elements" in traditional Chinese philosophy - metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. Inspired by different elements, each floor of the five story building showcases unique colors, materials, and design themes. This injects specific colors, vitality, and inspiration into the entire space. The various shapes in architectural design embody the philosophy of symmetry, structural form, and curvature in nature.

#4. Increase creativity and innovation ability

The all-new Est é e Lauder China Innovation and Research Center located in Shanghai is a future oriented laboratory park. The vision, plan, design, and implementation of this project embody a new model of laboratory park to enhance creativity and product innovation. The aim is to create a vibrant, cohesive, branded, and well-equipped park, setting an example for creating humanized office spaces.

#5. Brand storytelling and digital design

The park has integrated brand design and brand storytelling sections to pay tribute to the company and create a strong corporate identity, making the corporate culture deeply rooted in people's hearts. In addition, this also helps to convey the company's historical heritage and brand value to visitors and employees through images, product stories, and various exhibits. Implementing digital touchpoints helps inject vitality into the activity area while attracting employees and visitors to participate. We hope to further establish and deepen connections through this, and continuously promote innovation.
